How to Use a Nest Learning Thermostat
Your Nest is designed to run off of a temperature schedule, and each day can be independently set with different temperature points. And you can set different schedules for heating and cooling modes!
For example, in heating mode, you can set up the Monday-Friday schedule to have the heat kick up to 70 degrees at 7 a.m. and then drop back down to 62 degrees at 9 a.m.
And then you can have the temperature set to automatically turn back up to 70 degrees right before you get home from work. On top of that, you can schedule it to turn down around midnight (or whenever you’re sure to be asleep).
All of this can be done with just a few clicks or from your computer or smartphone. It’s that simple.
And the fun doesn’t stop there when it comes to the Nest thermostat! There are some other great features, such as “away mode” and remote temperature control from your smartphone.
Your Nest is so smart, that it will start learning when you’re away, and it will automatically switch to “away mode.” You can set what temperature range you want your home to stay in during away mode (we recommend 62 to 78 degrees). The energy-saving possibilities are virtually endless.
When you download the Nest app to your smartphone, you can control the temperature in your home remotely. Say you’re going to be home earlier than expected: you can change the temperature just by opening the app. (You can change the temperature from the warmth of your bed!)
